Maui, Hawaii Day 3

We had reservations about 30 min from where our resort was for a pineapple and distillery tour with Maui Pineapple Tours. Before our tour, breakfast was needed. Our first spot was Cafe at La Plage. Two doors down was Maui Bread. Both are located in the Dolphin Plaza and are popular spots. Kellyne, Autumn, and I were able to try out a variety of items and get ready for our tours.

Once we arrived at the Maui Pineapple Tour location, where both our tours would take place, we were ready for our fill of pineapple information and of course, fresh pineapple. The pineapple tour did not disappoint. Our second tour was at the Haliimaile Distilling Company, which was on the same property and part of the same tour group, just an add on option with our tour package. It was interesting and informative, but not likely something I’d try again.

After the tours wrapped up, we took the scenic drive back to town to a place we had decided on for lunch, Tiffany’s. After lunch we drove back to our resort but made a pit stop at the snorkel rental shop. We thought maybe we could pick up some snorkel gear and check out the beach and Autumn could try snorkeling for the first time. They told us that it wasn’t a smart idea to go in the afternoon since the winds pick up in the afternoon and it gets pretty rough. We talked with the gal who we were picking up our rental gear from and she gave us some recommendations on where to go first thing in the morning. We got the snorkel gear and made plans for the next morning. Off we went to our resort.

After we got back, Autumn and I decided to go down by the pool. She enjoyed some more of the pool life while I reviewed some pictures and did some reading. We also walked around the grounds of our resort and found several fruit trees right on the property, which was pretty neat to see.

It really was beautiful where we were staying. We even picked up some of the star fruit that we had found, but it wasn’t ripe. The green round fruit were oranges. Autumn and I debated for quite some time if it was really an orange since usually you’ll see oranges as the color orange, but I read that oranges are naturally green in warmer climates, but if they grow somewhere that it does cool of, they turn orange. We cute it open and it was an orange, but not quite ripe either.

Once we’d cleaned up and gotten ready, we decided to go back to the park we had tried to visit the night before to watch the sunset. We had success! It was beautiful, but still some clouds were present. That didn’t stop us though.

After our time at the park and many photos later, we made our way to a BBQ restaurant Kellyne picked out back in Kihei. BBQ… on Hawaii… I was scared. I mean We spent most of our lives in Kansas City, you know, where BBQ is fan-freaking-tastic. Off we went to Fat Daddy’s Smokehouse BBQ. It wasn’t a bad meal at all.

After a long day with lots of sun, we were ready for some rest. So back to the resort we went and where we turned in for the night. I found I wasn’t able to stay awake once I sat down as we had a decent time zone change and we were staying relatively busy. Too bad I couldn’t cram more in as we were leaving Maui the next day.
