After a day of traveling, Autumn and I met up with Kellyne, my sister who lives in Oahu. We caught our last flight over to Maui and after we picked up our rental car, we stumbled upon one of the few open late at night restaurants on our way to our resort. When we pulled up to the parking lot where the signs led us, we were uncertain how to enter the actual restaurant. We followed a dimly lit pathway up to where we found the entrance. In New Mexico we have lots of breweries and we were surprised with how large the building was. We were quickly sat and were asked for our beverage orders. I asked what soda types they had and was surprised to hear they create their own soda in addition to their beers. I ordered a cola, Kellyne ordered a root beer, and Autumn ordered a pineapple mana wheat beer.
We were pleasantly surprised to find that it was happy hour as it was 9:30, right when happy hour started. We chose to order the crispy calamari, the house cut fries, and the MBC nachos as they were out of the bao buns for the pork belly bao. We also ordered one of their craft pizzas, The Brewmaster. Our drinks arrived and we were able to try their house made sodas and beer.
The sodas were sweet and had a lot going on but were refreshing, yet needed to be colder. Our appetizers arrived and shortly after, our pizza. The calamari was thick cut and coated in panko crumbs, served with a side of siracha mayo. The nachos had melted cheese, sour cream, guacamole, a green chili sauce, and cilantro. The fries were not fried very well and had a large section stuck together. The sauces with the fries were ketchup and a sweet red sauce that was almost better pair with the calamari. The nachos had some good flavor and great chips, but would have benefited with a cheese sauce vs just melted cheese. The green chili throughout the nachos was almost like a tomatillo salsa and it was great.
The pizza came out super hot and had hand made crust with Kukui spicy sausage, pepperoni, roasted bell peppers, olives (which we asked to be removed), and a red sauce. The crust was pretty good and held up well the to heft of the pizza. The red sauce was different but the pizza overall wasn’t bad.
The happy hour pricing made this meal perfect for the 3 of us as we got into town so late. I would suggest this place for anyone who enjoys a brewery type of atmosphere with pretty decent food, which is hard to find in most breweries.
