My Aunt Cindy suggested we try Kihei Caffe, which was just down the street from her hotel. She said it’s one of the highly recommended places in the area, especially if you’re a foodie. We drove past the building to find a parking spot in the small and packed parking lot next the restaurant and we saw a big line at 9:15 am. Key thing to note here, it’s cash only, so come prepared.

The line moves quickly and once you get to outside of the entrance you’re able to grab a menu and start reviewing your options. You’ll need to know what you want once you get inside as it’s a very efficient fast moving system.

We ordered the following amongst us: a cinnamon roll, a breakfast burrito, the #1, the surfer dude sandwich, and finally, the 2-2-2 breakfast slam. Autumn also ordered the cold brew special coffee of the day and I ordered the POG juice. In Hawaii, POG is the juice to try, as it’s passion orange guava juice. We grabbed our drinks and cinnamon roll and went outside to find a seat in the patio section, which is constantly turning over tables. We dug into the cinnamon roll as we waited for our food. It was absolutely delicious.

That cinnamon roll was light, just enough texture but not too dense or full of sweet filling. It was great. The icing was the perfect consistency and texture. It was great. Absolutely get one if you’re a cinnamon roll fan. Within 10 minutes, our food arrived. It was impressive.

The 2-2-2 came with options of 2 French toast or 2 pancakes. The French toast options to add were macadamia nut and banana, blueberries, pineapple and coconut, or strawberries and cream. The bread for the French toast is a Portuguese sweet bread. It was hearty and slightly sweet. The table had coconut syrup or regular syrup. I dipped my French toast in the coconut syrup and it was great. The bacon was a thick bacon and had a great smoky sweet flavor. The super dude sandwich was packed full of good ingredients. It had a brioche bun and on it was scrambled eggs, bacon, tomato, avocado, and cheddar cheese. It was a really balanced sandwich and had tons of fresh flavor. The #1 eggs, bacon, fried rice, and biscuit with added gravy was also very good. The pork fried rice was absolutely fantastic though. It was a made with ham, bacon, Portuguese sausage, onions and it was so flavorful, I kept eating it off of my sister’s plate. Every bit of it that she didn’t eat. The breakfast burrito was full of thick cut home fries, eggs, and cheese. We were absolutely stuffed after this meal.

Go to Kihei Caffe, it’s absolutely worth the wait. Try as much as you can on this menu, you won’t regret it. Especially try the pork fried rice if you like fried rice. Also, take some time to explore the shops and the other activities right in this area, there’s tons to do. We actually came back to this location later in the day to do a fudge making class and some shopping. There’s a lot to do in this town so definitely allow some time for exploring!
