I checked out Richie Bs Pizza the other night as I am always on the hunt for incredible pizza. This restaurant states it’s New York style pizza and is highly reviewed on yelp. Since I was in the area for a while waiting for Autumn to wrap up an event that evening, I decided to give them a try.

When I was growing up, I never wanted pizza. If my mom was out of town and my dad was in charge of dinner after a busy work week, he’d sometimes offer to get us pizza. I dreaded it. Since then, I’ve learned how amazing pizza can be and once in a while I enjoy a pizza delivery from one of the chain restaurants.

I arrived at Richie’s at 7:30 pm on a Saturday night and there wasn’t a single patron in the restaurant. The staff was very friendly and offered suggestions on some of the customer favorites and their own personal favorites. The pizza here is big. I mean big. You’re able to order a small selection by the slice or you’re able to order a whole pizza, which there are two sizes: 18” or 25” sized pies. The single slices are available in the following types: cheese, pepperoni, veggie, supreme, and pepperoni and pineapple. I chose the pepperoni and pineapple and the side of seasoned fries. Fries, a very odd choice for a pizza place, but they were highly recommended by the staff. The salads were huge or I would have gotten one of those, however, I didn’t know you could order it in a half size until later when a family came in and were presented with that option. These portions are family size for sure and would feed quite a few people.

I added the viper sauce and the ranch sauce as the reviews stated they were house made and a must. I sat down with my choice of any table in the place and my pizza and fries came out quickly but wasn’t rushed or thrown together. They did forget the pineapple but that was fixed quickly.

Pineapple on pizza, to some, will be blasphemy, but I love pineapple on my pizza. The pizza itself was pretty decent in terms of flavor. The seasoned fries were fantastic. The ranch paired with the fries was just the right combination as the ranch had a good amount of dill flavor. I didn’t care for the viper sauce paired with the pizza or the fries, but I’m sure to some it would be a welcome dipping sauce. I personally thought the size was the barrier for this pizza though. It was difficult to hold up and eat without using two hands initially, but after some folding, it was doable.

As I ate my meal, a couple families came in for what seemed to be their first time as well. One family ordered the 25” pizza with salads and the other family ordered their own individual slices. The kids from both families were impressed and excited about the size of the slices. Their orders came out relatively quickly and both parties seemed pleasantly surprised with their orders.

A quick late night meal was the goal and it was satisfying. This may not become a regular pizza place for me, but it was great to try. They do have dessert, cannoli and cheesecake, but they weren’t house-made so I wasn’t inclined to try them out. The staff did say that both were delicious so they may be worth a try.
