Hawaii is the best place to get shaved ice. It’s not a snow cone, it’s not a slurpee, it’s something unique. The ice is so delicate and snow like and the flavorings or purées are also unique to this area. Especially if the place is making their own flavorings/purées. You can also get ice cream in the bottom of your cup, usually in several different flavors like macadamia nut, coconut, and vanilla. We checked out Peace Love Shave Ice on Sunday and happened to arrive right as they were opening. A VW bug pulled up all decked out in Peace and Love decor and it matched the hut perfectly.

We each got our combination of flavors, I however, added a macadamia nut ice cream in the center of mine. They’re not only super colorful, but they were refreshing and very sweet. I can never tell someone what flavors to get with stuff like this, it’s too personal. I can say, try it and enjoy it since it’s very hard to find on the main land. It’s one of those fond memories from when I first started to come to Hawaii many years ago with my family. Don’t over do it though as it is quite sweet.
